Interns wanted
We are a small natural building finishes distribution company located in Montreal, Quebec. We are looking for 1 or 2 people to participate in an internship project. Candidates must be self-reliant, able to organize their research work, meticulous in their approach and able to work as part of a team. Below are the details of the proposed internship.
Internship title
Workshop assistant
General objective
Research into the physical behavior and aesthetic rendering of various traditional finishing materials, such as natural oils for wood, lime, casein, clay in various forms: paint, plasters of different grain sizes, Tadelakt, etc.
Description
This project will involve several aspects. Among other things, materials will be put to the test (in the workshop) to determine certain behaviors (resistance, setting time, permeability to run-off water, etc.). Aesthetic research will also be carried out, with the aim of highlighting the decorative aspects of these materials through variations in installation using different recipes, including tinting and the application of various protective finishes to a given material.
The results of this project will be used to improve the aesthetics of the showroom, as well as to create visual presentations for craftsmen, architects and other audiences. This should result in high-quality visual presentations and a better understanding of the behavior of the materials presented.
The internship is unpaid. It will be carried out in the workshop and supervised by a master decorative painter.
